

Jerome J. Krochmal

Jerome J. krochmal, age 93, of Dayton, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 at Fairmont Senior Living. “Jerry” was born in Brooklyn and raised in Brighton Beach New York by the late Milton and Frances Krochmal. He graduated from Georgia Tech as a Ceramic Engineer and he and his bride Gina moved to Dayton so that Jerry could start his new assignment as a second lieutenant at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. This was the start of a 37-year career with the Air Force, first in the military, then as a civilian, that included a Stanford-Sloan Fellowship and ended with retirement in December, 1988. From 1952-1957 he was a Project Engineer in the Air Force Power Plant Laboratory. From 1957 – (unknown), Jerry was a Materials Engineer in the Ceramic & Graphite Branch, Metals and Ceramics Division, Air Force Materials Laboratory. (From Jan 60 - Feb 61 he was on loan half of his time to the National Academy of Sciences).
