Air Force Materials & Manufacturing History

THE ML FAMILY

Those of us who have been associated with ML regard it as a world-class organization that has been important in our professional lives. This is certainly true for many of us who have spent a lifetime career with the lab. However, underlying its success as a leader in materials and manufacturing development, the laboratory is much more than just a collection of people who are work-day colleagues; it is in a sense a family of individuals who share life experiences and interact as friends socially as well as professionally. This includes not just direct government employees, but also extended family members of the lab, who in some cases have spent entire careers with ML.

This page includes three sections of biographies:

  • Members who were directors of the laboratory.

  • Members who went on to other noteworthy positions in government, industry or academia.

  • Members of the ML family who are no longer with us and who are not already identified in the previous two sections.

Many of the biographies include added personal comments from those who knew the individuals from work or other reasons. When this is the case, these additions are included on a separate page reached from a link that's at the end of the text of the biography. In this regard, we welcome any further input to add to any of the biographies. These may include pictures or other information, and of course are intended to be personal reminiscences, not necessarily formal documents.
