Edward J. Morrisey
January 3, 1927 – July 4, 2017

Morrisey, Edward J. passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton at the age of 90 on July 4, 2017. He was born on January 3, 1927 in Dayton, OH. He attended Chaminade High School and graduated from Purcell High School in the accelerated program in 1944. He started at the University of Dayton, but was drafted in 1945 and proudly served his country in the Navy in WWII. He graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1949. Upon graduation he got a job as Analytical Chemist at Kentucky Chemical Industries. In 1951 he moved to Waukegan IL to work for Abbott Laboratories as a research chemist. He moved back to the Dayton area to continue as a chemist at NCR in Plastics Engineering where he received his first 2 of 7 patents. In 1967 he began his career with AFML.  He started as a materials engineer in the Materials Engineering Branch, Materials Support Div. Later he moved to become the Branch Chief for Electronics Branch of the Manufacturing Technology Division. While in AFRL he received 5 patents. Upon retirement from Wright-Patt, he received the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award. He had been an active member for the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and an emeritus member at the time of his death. He loved camping, sailing and spending time with his loving family and friends. His humor and joy will be greatly remembered and missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years Rose (Quaing) Morrisey; his 6 children Patrick (Patty), Mary Gaddis (Tony), Eileen Graves (Greg), Matthew (Barb), Carol Bublitz (Jim) and Tom (Beth); 10 grandchildren; Robin, Jenny, Victoria, Nathan, Laura, Carla, Emily, Molly, Amy and Sarah; his 11 great-grandchildren, Allison, Rylan, MaKenna, Kian, Luke, Leo, Carmen, Sydney, Lucy, Colin and Joey. He was preceded in death by his 3 sisters, Pauline Hofmann, Ann Schweitzer and Margaret “Peggy” Morrisey.
