Dr. Robert “Bob” Ruh, 90, of Kettering, Ohio passed away on June 19, 2021.  He was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, on August 2, 1930 to Harry and Martha (Grasing) Ruh.

Bob earned a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and PhD in ceramics and ceramic engineering from Rutgers University.  He conducted post doctorate studies at the Chemical Research Laboratories (CSIRO) in Melbourne, Australia.  He served in the Air Force Research Laboratories, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.  Most of his career was spent in civil service as a research Ceramist and Materials Engineer in the Aerospace Research Laboratories and the Air Force Materials Laboratory.  He also worked at the Air Force Signature Technology Office.  He retired in 1993 and then served as a materials consultant to the Air Force Research Laboratories.  He was a life member of the American Ceramic Society, where he served as Program Chairman and Chairman of the Basic Science Division.  Bob loved helping others and served as a Masters and Doctorate advisor to graduate students.
