Remembrances of Paul Propp

A note from Paul himself:

Paul sent this letter to us in October 2019, a few months before he passed away.

Gary Waggoner:

Paul was the best in every way and I miss him very much. Here are a couple of photos from the past.

Dan McDermott:

This is a short video made during his visit to my home in 1993.

John Fenter:

Paul was one of those very special people we don't have enough of.

Dick Engman:

Paul was a great guy. He was collocated to California most of his MLS time, later contributed significantly to the AFMMAA.

Don Shrader:

I only had one occasion to work, and interact with, Paul, over the span of a few months, but I always found him most gracious and accommodating and always thought highly of him whenever his name was brought up.

John Speers:

I had fond memories of Paul, too, as we worked with him on some Star Wars projects in the mid 80s. He was a great guy, and always had a handle on activities and people we worked with in LA, and of course, Space Division.

Terry Ronald:

Anyone who spent time with Paul, as I did on many occasions in years past on visits to the Los Angeles area, will feel a great loss. He was a special person, professionally and socially. It is particularly distressing because he had recently been in contact with AFMMAA, encouraged by Merrill Mingus to write about some of his memories of his many years as the Materials Lab West Coast representative for Air Force space-related programs. I first met him in the mid-1970s when I was assigned to the ML Plans Office, working for Bernie Chasman. My focus was on Space activities, so I had frequent contact with Paul, by phone, at various meetings, at his West Coast office, and also on his ML Yacht at Marina del Rey! He was a fount of knowledge of all things regarding Air Force Space programs, and he was fun to be with.

George Schmitt:

He was so instrumental in our connections to the Space and Missiles Center and facilitated our ML contributions for about 20 years. His contribution to the lab’s reputation was significant. Paul’s commitment to the AFMMAA was heartfelt and should be recognized. I sure miss him.

Mike Stropki:

Simple awesome tributes to a very special person who touched so many people in a very special way!  Tributes so well deserved.

Never to be forgotten as a national asset and true American patriot! May he Rest In Peace.
